3 Hair Removal Techniques Using Pantry Staples

Waxing, epilators, shaving, and lasers are the most popular techniques for removing body hair among women. While these are effective, a few other hair removal remedies can be done at home using basic ingredients found in your pantry. These are easy on the skin and can also save you a lot of money. From egg masks to sugar wax, here are three helpful hair removal methods to try using kitchen staples.

1. Face peeling mask
Face masks not only help remove facial hair but also eliminate blackheads and excess oil. To try this method:

  • Take one egg, add about ½ a tablespoon of cornflour, and one tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix these to form a paste.
  • Using your fingers or a soft brush spread this paste evenly on your face. Avoid getting too close to the eyes and eyebrows.
  • Let the paste sit for about 15 minutes till it dries. Then start to peel or rub it off gently to get the facial hair out.

Doing this regularly will help manage your facial hair. You can try this hair removal method three times a week if you don’t have sensitive skin.

2. Oats scrub hair removal
Oats have been used in scrubs as a remedy for a long time, and while it’s great for exfoliation, it can also help remove some unwanted facial hair too. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Take about one tablespoon of coarsely ground oats, add some honey, and about five to six drops of lemon juice. Mix to make a thick paste.
  • Apply the paste on the areas where you see hair growth – side of the cheek, corner of your forehead, etc.
  • After 15-20 minutes, scrub in a circular motion to remove the paste. Remember to use dry hands so that the hair gets scrubbed out.
  • Wash your face with lukewarm water or use a warm washcloth to clean.

3. Sugar wax
Sugar wax is a natural hair removal remedy used in several regions, which has worked for centuries. Here’s what you do:

  • Take one cup of granulated sugar, add 1½ tablespoons of lemon juice, and two tablespoons of water. Heat this mixture till it melts and forms a paste.
  • Remove from the stove and let it cool till you can handle it. Apply on the back of your hand first to check and then move on to wherever you’d like to apply it. Spread this warm paste on your skin in the same direction as your hair growth.
  • Once applied, cover with a clean fabric leaving the end free to hold for pulling. Press down on the cloth and rub so that the paste sticks evenly to both skin and fabric.
  • With one swift motion, pull the fabric against the hair growth. Use warm water to clean the skin.

When trying such home remedies, make sure you aren’t allergic to any of the ingredients.
